About Centralia, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Centralia is an Illinois city that is located in portions of Clinton, Jefferson, Marion, and Washington counties. As of 2010, just over 13,000 people called this city home, showing a population reduction of about 1,000 people from the 2000 population. This city was named after the Illinois Central Railroad, which was built in 1853. Historically, the city is often remembered for being the location of a 1947 coal mine explosion in which over 100 people lost their lives. Today, the community is a great place to raise a family, and Kaskaskia College is also located here.

Whether you live in Centralia or are planning to visit the area, there are several notable things to see here that you might enjoy. Theater or movie lovers might like to take a trip to the Illinois Theatre or the AMC Plaza 5, while wine connoisseurs may prefer an afternoon out at the Roundhouse Wine Company or Cooked Creek Winery. Golf lovers might like to book a tee time at Greenview Golf Club, and families might enjoy a tour of the rail cars found in Railroad Village at Fairview Park. There are also a variety of specialty shops in the area, including the Olde Primitive Craft Shoppe and Kountry Store, the Village Greenery Florist, and Ross Flower Shop.

Centralia is found within a humid subtropical climate zone, and the area will experience four distinct seasons throughout the year. High temperatures tend to reach the upper 80s during the summer, but on average the community will see more than three dozen days per season in which temperatures surpass 90 degrees and a central air conditioning system is a necessity to stay cool. Temperature extremes are also a possibility in the winter when conditions become cold, and to stay safe, residents will rely on a home furnace or heat pump system.
